Japanese Court Sentences Aum Shinrikyo Scientist to Death

A Japanese court today sentenced Aum Shinrikyo cult scientist Tomomasa Nakagawa to death for his role in a 1995 sarin attack on the Tokyo subway system, according to the Associated Press (see GSN, April 24).

Nakagawa was sentenced to hang for helping to produce the sarin used in the 1995 attack, which killed 12 people, and the sarin used in an earlier attack that killed seven, AP reported. He is the 10th Aum Shinrikyo member to receive the death sentence (Associated Press/CNN.com, Oct. 29).
