Size: Includes the Central Laboratory of Aquaculture Research (CLAR), the Plant Pathology Research Institute (PPRI), the Soil and Water Research Institute, National Agricultural Genetic Engineering Lab (NAGEL), the Animal Production Research Institute, the Institute of Horticulture Research, the Food Technology Research Institute (FTRI), the Central Laboratory of Fish Research, and the Cotton Research Institute.
Primary Function: Performs research that assists the agriculture sector.
History: In 2002, the center was chosen as one of the world's 16 best agricultural research centers.

Activities:
Among its research projects, the center has been trying to differentiate between virulent isolates of Rhizoctonia and Fusarium. Also, through its Food Technology Research Institute (FTRI), the center performs research on solving the problems of processing, packaging, and storing of different food items. Furthermore, through FTRI, it distributes low-cost food processing technology to villagers, disseminates information regarding proper nutrition, and is refining large-scale food processing technology.
