June 1989 Iran Thionyl chloride (257 tons) Shipment of this material is stopped under US pressure. The company responsible for this export and the one listed above is Transpek, Ltd.
1987-1989 Iran, Iraq, and Egypt Chemicals (several hundred tons) Allegations made by US officials, as reported by the New York Times.
July 1992 Syria Trimethyl phosphite (45 tons) The shipment of the dual-use precursor to nerve gas is blocked in Cyprus. The Indian exporting company, United Phosphorus Ltd., claimed that it believed the Syrians needed the material for pesticide use.
May 1993 Libya "poison gas cleansing equipment" (quantity unknown)  
February 1994 Egypt/Israel (exact destination unclear) Phosphorous pentasulphide (four containers) The Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association asserted that the chemical was not on OPCW's scheduled chemical list, and was clear for export. Sri Lankan authorities expressed fear that the material was actually destined to Israel (although the ship is destined for an Egyptian port) for use in nerve gas production.
