Other names: Wŏnsan Nodong Base, Wonsan Missile Base
Location: Wŏnsan (元山市), Kangwŏn Province (江原道), North Korea
Subordinate to: Missile Division (미사일 師團), Ministry of the People's Armed Forces (人民武力省), National Defense Commission (國防委員會)
Primary Function: Deployment and launch of ballistic missiles
Description: North Korea reportedly planned that the missile base at Wŏnsan be capable of handling missiles that can strike US military bases in Japan and Guam, which implies the base could launch Nodong and/or Paektusan-1 missiles. This facility was still under construction as of July 2001. According to defector Im Yŏng Sŏn, this facility is a long-range missile launch base. There is some speculation that Wŏnsan missile base is an underground Nodong base.
