Yongnim-ŭp Missile Base (龍林邑 미사일 基地)

Other names:
Yongnim-ŭp Underground Missile Base, Yongrim-ŭp Missile Base, Ryongrimup Missile Base, Ryongnim-kun Missile Base

Location: Yongnim-ŭp (龍林邑), Yongnim-kun (龍林郡), Chagang Province (慈江道), North Korea

Subordinate to: Missile Division (미사일 師團), Ministry of the People's Armed Forces (人民武力省), National Defense Commission (國防委員會)

Primary Function: Deployment and launch of ballistic missiles

Description: Reports of missile base construction in Yongnim-kun first became public in July 1999. Considering Yongnim-kun's location, the base is almost certainly designed for the Nodong, Paektusan-1 and/or the Taepodong-2. According to a South Korea military source, construction on this base had begun by 1994. About 60 to 80% of the construction had been completed by March 2001.
