Primary Function: Design and fabrication of data sensors for rockets, satellites, and ground equipment.

Description and Activities:
Instrumentation Laboratories (IL) designs and fabricates data sensors for the transmission, reception, processing, and tracking of sounding rockets for purposes of upper atmosphere research. It has facilities for the design and fabrication of "electronic devices...[for use in] rockets, satellites, and ground equipment." It is equipped with "telemetry systems, infrared instrumentation, vibration systems, digital circuit designs, microprocessor-based systems, and high-speed general purpose computers to calibrate and test" data sensors.

Although IL is primarily involved in the design of data sensors for civilian sounding rocket and satellite programs, it is possibly involved in the design of sensors and instrumentation for use in Pakistan's ballistic missile programs.
