BMD and U.S. Allies

While most long-time allies of the United States share U.S. perceptions of the threats posed by ballistic missiles, many have specific concerns over U.S. development of BMD. Most, including U.S. European allies and Japan, favor the development of defensive systems to counter short-range and medium-range missile threats in their regions. Toward this goal, Israel and other states are cooperating with the United States to develop defenses against short-range and medium-range missiles.
