Intern, AI and Emerging Tech

Roberto Lachner is an intern for NTI’s burgeoning Strategic Initiatives-AI and Emerging Tech team which is headed by Douglas Shaw, PhD. In this role, he supports the team’s ongoing mission to research and develop a taxonomy and framework for investigating how AI and other emerging technologies pose threats to and opportunities for the stability of nuclear deterrence.

Roberto is a junior at Princeton University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics with minors in Environmental Science and History. On campus he serves as senator in the undergraduate student government, is a campus tour guide, leads a Catholic bible study, and is a member of the Princeton Pianists Ensemble. Last summer he interned at the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s 4th Judicial Circuit within their gang violence prevention unit. This summer he has also been selected for participation in AEI’s Summer Honors Academy. Originally from Costa Rica, Roberto is passionate about bringing fresh and interdisciplinary perspectives into his work and academics. In his free time, you can find him on the phone with his family, browsing Wikipedia, or– on Wednesdays at 8– watching Survivor.
